A "fond" look back at
the Bush project; a story of seduction and betrayal. It uses
the famous painting of Samson
and Delilah by Rubens (or not by Rubens, if you believe this). The allusion
is pretty obvious, I hope. The original story went thus; the
great hero Samson fell in love with Delilah. She was bribed by
enemy Philistines, and discovered that his strength came from
his hair which had never been cut. While he was asleep it was
cut, Samson was drained of his strength and the Philistines were
able to capture him. Here, Dick Cheney (as Delilah) succeeds
in the seduction of Uncle Sam-son by posing as Liberty. Rumsfeld
and Bush sap his strength. Outside the schemers and back-room
boys of the Bush project (Karl Rove and Paul Wolfowitz) await
with their weapons. Yes, I know it's a bit smart-ass. |
