The rains jsut keep on
coming in this glorious UK summer. Floods all round. And more
is predicted. As for Gordon, it's much the same. The economic
news ge ts worse - house prices continue their plummeting, banks
look inceasingly edgy, Brown seems helpless. And then, ahead
of their annual conference, along comes a good old 1970s-style
TUC demand for action to help the increasing numbers exposed
to fuel poverty. Brendan Barber rides the wave while a Brown
rescue plan still looks a long way off.
