The G7 finance leaders
meet in Washington to discuss the financial crisis. They are
squabbling ahead of the meeting. Perhaps only the "Brown
plan" can save them. Bush, increasingly sidelined in his
lame-duck mode, issues a completely redundant statement of encouragement
before they meet, as if he understands what's happening.
