The first stirrings of
an election campaign are becoming visible. The dreadful dtate
of the economy can't be denied but both sides are trading insults
based on how big the cuts will be and how precipitately the axe
will fall. Alastair Darling hedges and shows reticence in admitting
that there will be ANY cuts under the golden dawn of a renewed
Labour administration. At length, George Osborne, for the Tory
camp, claims that Darling's belated implicit admission of limited
cuts shows just what a small axe he's got.
