The conference season
is well and truly under way. Brown's speech was workmanlike at
a time when it needed to be the best of his life in order to
quell dissnting voices who see this as the last realistic opportunity
to ditch him before the next election. All the seconds stayed
loyal to the heavyweight, just about. Meanwhile, Cameron is buzzing
- looking all the more like like Smooth Dave, the Etonian young
blade; the housewife's choice. He rides high in the polls while
Brown founders. The The Sun backs Dave. It's looking grim for
the old bruiser and his clunking fists.
