2016
Boris announces, to the consternation of his erstwhile chum, David Cameron, that he will be campaigning to leave the EU, despite having been a longtime mild Europhile. Careerism is suspected.
Boris's record as Mayor of London is appalling with regard to air quality. He has consistently avoided compliance with EU regulations on pollution and lied to the public about it.
Obama enters the EU referendum debate, suggesting that the UK should remain part of the EU. Little Nigel Farage complaiuns as usual, accusing him of unfairly entering a strictly UK debate.
in the lead-up to the referendum, the knives are out for Cameron on both sides of his party; the Brexiteers want to punish him for advocating remaining in, while the Europhiles want to string him up for holding the referendum.
the Brexiteers are shouting and whingeing that Cameron's EU referendum campaign is based on fear of the consequences of leaving, citing "Project Fear". Be afraid.
UK voted by a small margin to leave the EU. This will likely lead - among many other negative consequences, in the break-up of the UK. Mad Britannia. Cameron resigns next morning, a bit of "collateral damage" in the battle. Boris looks set to become next
Cameron may go down as the most incompetent PM in modern British history. He has, unnecessarily, ended his career mid stream, apparently forced us out of the EU and probably destroyed the EU (a Scottish referendum is now more likely). Poor old Britannia.
John Bull votes to leave the EU - for all manner of reasons it seems - immigration, dissatisfaction with life, xenophobia, not trusting Cameron and his ilk etc. etc. I don't think it's the wisest decision he's made.
Three days after the referendum, it looks like little Govey is rolling out the red carpet for the crowning of Boris as the new PM. All seems to be going to plan.
whaddya know? The Brexit vote has unlaeshed the dark side of Britain - xenophobic rants recorded on i-phones of people shouting at non-white citizens and acts of vandalism at Polish centres. Who knew eh?
Little Govey turns coat and decides that Boris is not up to the job of PM, but - here's a surprise - Govey reluctantly concludes that he is just the man for the job. His poll ratings among Tory MPs plummets.
